Training

When you know what you’re doing, your manager trusts you, and so do your co-workers.

That’s why everyone who joins our team is thoroughly trained in the safe operation of all equipment, machinery and low-stress handling methods for our cattle. This training is then regularly maintained and reviewed throughout the year.

From experienced hands to employees who’ve never stepped off pavement, every hire undergoes extensive training, because we are all responsible for keeping each other safe.

Guidance for new and foreign workers

Each year, we work with immigration initiatives to bring workers from around the globe, adding diverse viewpoints, skills and expertise to our team.

If you’re looking for opportunities beyond your home country, send us your resume and we’ll help you find your route to Canada.

“As an inexperienced worker, Grandview took a chance on me and were willing to teach me and give me room to grow. Grandview and the community of workers are some of the greatest people that I have had the liberty to meet. Working on Grandview’s feedlot has been one of the best experiences of my adult life.”

Where you could live

Community near the feedlot - Lethbridge

With sprawling grasslands bordered by the Rocky Mountains, southern Alberta is one of the last places where real cowboys still ride.

Saddle up and visit the small, quiet towns dotting the prairies, or wander into rugged coulees, leaving civilization behind. Wherever you go in southern Alberta, there’s always a new vista to explore, and friendly people to meet.

With mild (for Canada) winters and hot, sunny summers, it’s hard not to fall in love with this little corner of the province.

If you’ve never visited southern Alberta, let us be your virtual tour guide with the links below. We hope you’ll come to love this country as much as we do.

Fun feedlot facts

  • Alberta raises 80% of Canada’s beef cattle
  • 1.74 million head of cattle go through Alberta feedlots each year
  • Calves enter a feedlot at 450-600lbs and leave at a whopping 1450lbs!
  • Cattle at a feedlot eat a mix of 80% grains and 20% forages (typically hay or silage)
  • Cows are monitored regularly by veterinarians and farm hands to ensure they are healthy

Why you'll love working here

We can tell you all about how much we value our employees and try to create a family atmosphere where everyone enjoys their work, but it doesn’t mean much if our people don’t say the same thing.

So instead of us telling you how great it is to work here, we’ll let the folks who are out there every day tell it as it is.

“I have worked on a few different feedlots, and one thing I can say for sure - Grandview is by far my favourite to date. The people are awesome, the company is amazing to work for and the variety of things to do ensures there is never a dull moment, which is great! Working at Grandview provides the opportunity to learn new skills. I highly recommend employment at any of the Grandview feedlots!”
