Our Story

Grandview Family

Raising cattle for over 50 years

John Vander Heyden Sr. bought the land for Grandview Riverside in 1962. Alongside the cattle and the business, John Sr. raised a young family, including his son, John Jr.

John Jr. grew up roaming his father’s farm. As a young boy, he spent his summers and weekends helping his father to complete the farm’s daily work.

In 1989, John Jr. returned from Old’s College with plans to expand his father’s farm. He purchased the Riverside Lot from his father and doubled its size. John Jr. built the Grandview South lot in 1993 and, four years later, expanded once again with the Grandview North lot.

Just like John Jr., the next generation of Vander Heyden children grew up helping on the farm, before graduating to take on greater roles.

In 2021, John retired, leaving Grandview to the next generation; Curtis, Shawn and Travis.

To this day, Grandview remains a family-owned-and-operated company. The only difference is our team has grown and our vision has expanded. Today, our extended work family includes over 50 employees from all over the world, all with the same vision to become the leading producer in the Canadian Beef industry.

We’d love to welcome you to our team, and family too.

What we do

We raise Western Canadian feeder cattle to their optimal maturity, so they can be sent to local and international meat processing facilities. Together with veterinarians, nutritional consultants and our talented employees, we make sure our herd is healthy and always growing.

We equip our team with the latest technology and well-maintained equipment to give them every chance to excel.

Our modern facilities include indoor health and processing quarters with up-to-date chute-side feedlot management and nutritional software systems. Consulting nutritionists and veterinarians support herd health and export practices, so we can deliver the best product.

We monitor performance daily to confirm all our feedlots comply with health, provincial and federal regulations.
